The 10 places where prices are rising fastest

ITV commissioned Rightmove to find out where property prices are increasing the most. The North West dominates. Here are the top ten.

The race for space has not been confined to the South East. As families reassess their housing needs, home movers with equity are driving up prices throughout the UK.
As the stamp duty holiday starts to wind down for the South's more expensive properties, homes costing under £250,000 will continue to see maximum benefit until the end of September. This price point is especially relevant in Northern England, where the number of home movers continues to surge..
According to Rightmove, it is in the North West where property price increases are at the highest, accounting for seven of the top ten UK boroughs.
Top of the list is Wallasey in Merseyside, where one estate agent said -
It's off the scale, it's something we haven't seen for the last 10 years at least. When we are putting a property on the market people are fighting for it.... prices are often going over the asking price by 10 or 20%.
